Dropped off Nocturne, Segmentation, and Edge of Winter for the Minnetrista Annual.

Jim has already heard from Cool Creek and his Sandhill Crane Duo and Egret are going to that show. I finally got my entry sent in; Last Light and White Heat July.

This Friday is First Friday at the Pendleton Art Center in Rising Sun, the show is Photography and several of Jim's work should be hung.

Individual Artist Program Workshop, Thursday Nov 30, 2006 from 6-8 PM

The Indiana Arts Commission funds a program of financial support for career advancement to individual artists working in Indiana. The award can be an amount up to $2000, proposals are due to IAC by February 1, 2007. Funding is for specific project related costs incurred between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008. This workshop offers artists the chance to learn more about the funding program and the application process. Register by emailing metamora@gmail.com

Open Space Show

This is a red letter year! All three of my entries were selected to hang in the Open Space:Art about the Land show benefiting the Red Tail Conservancy of east central Indiana. No awards.

The show will travel to New Castle in November and Anderson in December, so there will be exposure in three different communities. It sounds as if there is a dinner planned in Anderson in conjunction with the opening, so I may try to make that if it works out with the Metamora Christmas Walk schedule.

I almost forgot, Jim received a second place with his heron photo in the Indiana Wildlife Artist annual show. That show is hanging at the new Artscape Gallery in the Commons in Columbus, IN and should be moving to the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour.

Bellevue Art in the Park

We had a beautiful day for the Art in the Park at the Bellevue Beach Park in Kentucky. JD sold some of the TallStacks 2003 pieces and his large Keeneland picture. I sold a graphite drawing of one of the windows in the old brick portion of Vereastau.

This weekend I will be delivering paintings for the Open Space show held at Minnetrista in Muncie, benefiting the Red Hawk Conservancy of central Indiana. Jim will be delivering his entries to the Indiana Wildlife Artists annual show, being held this year at the Commons in Columbus, IN. Then we are both showing at the Bellevue Art in the Park, Bellevue Beach Park, Bellevue, KY on Saturday. The top painting is White Heat July, the second painting is Bath Fields, Spring, and the third is Last Light . I still have not been able to get a picture of Last Light that I'm happy with, too much reflection.

Plein Aire Painters in October

The Indiana Plein Aire painters are going to be working in Brookville again in October. Plans are to have a welcome meeting at the Brookville Library on Friday Oct 27th with a talk on the Hoosier Group presented by Shaun Dingwerth of the Richmond Art Museum. Some of the artists may do some nocturnal work in downtown Brookville following that session. Saturday is painting with an artist meeting at the end of the day. Sunday the 29th there will be a show of work from the weekend at the Brookville Library from 2 to 4 PM.

Coincidentally the Indiana Canal Society is having their fall tour on the Whitewater Canal that same weekend. So we'll have painters and canawlers all over the place.

Eagle Creek

"October Afternoon" sold at Eagle Creek, so now I'm down to two possible entries for Hoosier Salon, "Fallow July" and "Last Light". "Last Light" is being problematic--I'm just not happy with the sky.

It appears that I haven't been doing too well at keeping photos up to date here. I'll need to get on that.

Various and Sundry

Last Friday was the First Friday reception at the Pendleton Rising Sun, featuring Megan Reis and her stained glass work and Olinka's sculpture. The weather was threatening and stormy, so I wimped out and went home toMetamora instead of to Rising Sun. Drove through some standing water on my way so thought that maybe it was better to be doing the route in the daylight. Peggy called me on Monday to let me know that one of my paintings sold over the weekend, Cups and Eggs.

Received notice that neither of my pieces were accepted for the Women's Art Club of Cincinnati show. Next Monday I'll have to run the two new pieces, Frigid February Dawn and Dead Cedar up to the Eagle Creek show in Indianapolis. Then on Tuesday I'll need to pick up the rejects from the Pendleton Over The Rhine.

One of Jim's photos- Pelikan Pier- sold, but then went on some convoluted journey before it arrived at its new home in Indianapolis. It finally arrived on Monday April 10 after being sent on March 27th. Priority mail doesn't do you too much good it would seem. At least it finally made it, All's well that ends well.

Just when we think the warming trend is going to stay, another round of snow hits. The hubby says it's because the Metamora Snowbirds from Granny and Her Helpers are returning, they always bring the snow back with them.

I had one painting accepted into the Minnetrista Spring Show, At the Crossroads, an old commercial building on a ridge on the route over to Vevay.

Jim sold a photo this week, Pelikan Pier, to a lovely lady from Indy who was in Rising Sun with a travel club. She says that they had a fine time in Rising Sun, spent the afternoon at Harps on Main, and would love to return to the area again.

The April First Friday at the Pendleton is going to feature the stain glass work of Megan Reis. She has her studio area set up in the front of the gallery now so everyone can watch Megan work.

Changes at the Pendleton

Jim was in from Florida and we spent a day down in Rising Sun, rearranging the studio. He brought in some of his new work from his last trip north in October, and we took out some of the pieces that have been there for a while.

I took Field Below Little Cedar to display for the next month or so. Then I'll probably switch it out with something at Fusion Gallery in Bellevue.

While there we chatted with Oscar for a while and found out that the Pendleton is only going to be open to the public on the evening of First Friday in January and February.

Eagle's Hideaway, Indianapolis, Celebration of Nature

Three pieces are going up to Indianapolis for the Celebration of Nature show at the Eagle's Hideaway, located on the western edge of Eagle Creek Reservoir. The show is open to the public from 10 to 4 on two weekends, Dec 3rd and 4th, Dec 10th and 11th.

Two of these pieces are from the group of work that was done by the Pendleton, Rising Sun artists for the Edge of Appalachia show at the Cincinnati Museum Center. The creek is Easter Run at the point where the trail to Buzzard's Roost crosses. The Cedar Breaks are viewed from the way up to Buzzard Roost looking across the valley.

The field of Queen Anne's Lace, Fallow July, was done initially for the Open Space show in 2004.

Laurel Library

Today starts a one week show of local work at the Laurel branch of the Whitewater Valley Library. I'll be showing Ritzi's Outbuilding, Field below Little Cedar, and Early Spring in the Valley. I thought that they were all fairly local pieces.

When I picked up my "rejects" from the Whitewater Valley Annual Ed mentioned that Field Below Little Cedar had gotten a fair amount of attention. I had one interested buyer, but it was out of her budget.

I received my invitation to the winter show for Eagles Creek so I'll be running three more pieces up to Indianapolis before the end of the month.

Whitewater Valley Annual

The Whitewater Valley Annual is held at Indiana University East in Richmond IN. The show will hang in the college Art Gallery in Whitewater Hall from Oct 17th through Jan 2006. website for the college is www.iue.edu. I entered two pieces, but unfortunately neither was chosen by this year's juror, Patterson Sims.

The more traditional landscape is "Field Below Little Cedar". A house has been built in the far field so the view is no longer the same.

The other piece is named "Subdivided Landscape". It is composed of 12 6x8 canvases mounted together.

Indiana Wildlife Association Show

Jim received both the first and second place award in the photography division of the Indiana Wildlife Association annual show. The show was at the Honeywell Center in Wabash for most of September, and has now split into two sections to hang in two more locations for October.

Open Space, Art About the Land

Entries for Open Space show were dropped off Friday at Minnetrista in Muncie.

Below is Subdivision, 24 x 24 acrylic on canvas. This painting is twelve smaller canvas sections that are mounted together to make the image.

Green Hillside, 24 x 36 acrylic on canvas.

Also entered was November Dusk, shown below in an earlier post-which received Honorable Mention at the Eagle Creek show.

Notice should be received in a few days concerning which pieces make the cut. Last year I had one of my three accepted for the show. This year I didn't stay quite as traditional.

Irvington Walk in the Park

Sunday, August 14th was the Walk in the Park show in the Irvington area of Indianapolis. We had a double space for the event. Jim's Cooper Hawk photo received a lot of interest, and he sold one smaller print. I sold a landscape painting based on the hills of Franklin County in the early spring, when everything seems to be a golden shade. Lots of dogs, must be a very canine friendly area.
